Rick Santorum won the Minnesota Caucus and Colorado Caucus and a non-binding main in Missouri on Tuesday night time, an unforeseen sweep that brought up clean questions on Mitt Romney’s potential to win the Republican presidential nomination. Rand Paul detainedRepublican Senator Rand Paul was stopped at an airport on Monday for environment off an alarm and refusing a patdown, prompting his father, U.S. presidential prospect Ron Paul, to accuse security officials of currently being portion of an “out of control” police state.

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney beat former senator Rick Santor­um (Pa.) in the Iowa caucuses by just eight votes, a sign of a splintered and increasingly fractious field as the GOP presidential race moves to New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida.

The former Massachusetts governor emerged victorious over former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Penn.) by a razor-thin margin of just eight votes. The final results, announced early Wednesday by the Iowa GOP, showed Romney had 30,015 votes to 30,007 for Santorum.

Despite the victory, Romney was unable to garner 25% percent of the vote. With 99.5% of precincts reporting, Romney won 24.6% to Santorum’s 24.5%. In all, more than 122,000 straw ballots were cast, a record for Iowa Republicans.
